The National Seniors Council has been established to advise Canada's New Government on all matters related to the health, well-being and quality of life of seniors. The National Seniors Council provides advice to the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, the Minister of Health, and the Secretary of State (Seniors).
An Act to Amend the Canada Pension Plan and the Old Age Security Act
Bill C-36, An Act to amend the Canada Pension Plan and the Old Age Security Act, was introduced in the House of Commons on 27 November 2006. Its purpose is to ensure sustainability of various government-sponsored benefit programs, allow greater access to disability benefits, and simplify the administrative process through the use of modern technologies.
